Afterschool

We believe that, if we are going to make a long-term change in our community, we must begin with the children. For this reason, we care for neighborhood children from 2:30 to 6:30 every afternoon in our afterschool program. We provide nutritious snacks, homework help, a safe environment, Bible teaching, and loving guidance in Jesus' name.

Our afterschool ministry is a satellite of the Bob Burdette Center, an afterschool program that has served the west side community for 13 years. When we moved here, we were impressed by the quality of the program there, and we laughingly told the director, Ms. Kim Creel, that we didn't want our own afterschool program-- we wanted her to open a division of her program in our building. In the summer of 2003, she called us and said, "Do you really want us?" We answered with a resounding "YES!" So we began! We have full autonomy over our site, but our funding comes through the Bob Burdette Center. We are so grateful for our association with this marvelous program.

We always need help with Afterschool...

We need tutors from 3:30 to 4:15 Monday through Thursday afternoons.

We need people to play games with children any afternoon from 4:15 to 5:00.
